Welcome to North Essendon
Hydrotherapy.
This program is a fun mode of
gentle exercise that allows you to exercise in a warm supportive
environment. Hydrotherapy is a fun way to increase your general
fitness using the physical properties of warm water. Hydrotherapy
is helpful for people of all ages, genders and body types. Our
classes are designed to rehabilitated people with current medical
conditions such as osteoarthritis, diabetes, weight issues,
osteoporosis, post surgery plus much more.
People looking to improve
general fitness and flexibility are most welcome to attend.
Our hydrotherapy classes are
held every Monday at the Ascot Vale Leisure Centre, Epsom Road,
Ascot Vale) Classes run for approximately 30-40 minutes and cost
$15 which can be claimed under most private health insurance
funds.
Prior to attending hydrotherapy
participants must undertake a 15 minute assessment with Dr Leigh
Doolan where a medical history will taken and discussed. This is a
legal requirement and will enable participants to receive the best
possible care.
Important points to remember
prior to attending our classes include.
1) Patients are
required to supply their own bathers, towels and thongs.
2) Patients must
wait next to the hydrotherapy pool for the Osteopath before
entering the water.
3) Please use
the toilet prior to the class to empty your bladder and have a
shower prior to entering the pool.
4) Thongs must
be worn at all times in the shower, change rooms and pool side to
prevent any change of infection spread (eg. Tinea)
5) You should
inform the therapist if any of the following apply prior to your
hydrotherapy visit.
•
You have a cold or chest infection.
•
You have an ear infection.
•
You have an open or inflamed wound.
•
Your blood pressure is not well controlled.
•
You are generally feeling unwell on the day.
•
You have consumed alcohol prior to the class.
•
If your Doctor or Osteopath has not yet issued you permission to
attend
hydrotherapy.
•
You medications have changed.
•
You have had any surgical operation since your previous
hydrotherapy visit.
6) If your
experiencing any shortness of breath, chest pain, nausea or
dizziness prior or during you hydrotherapy class.
7) Please bring
your angina or asthma medications to the pool side.
8) Following
your hydrotherapy session, please shower and have a cool drink to
re-hydrate.
9) If you can
not attend a hydrotherapy class please telephone the receptionist

10) Please do not bring
any valuables to hydrotherapy as no responsibility can be taken for
their security.
